Rick McFarland is a Little Rock photojournalist who works full time for the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette, the state's largest newspaper. In his 26 years as a photographer
— for the San Antonio Light, the San Antonio Express-News, and the Associated Press
— Rick has covered breaking news, sports and features. He's won numerous awards for
his work, and has placed or been named a finalist in: the Headliner Awards; Texas
APME; Arkansas APME; the Press Club of Dallas; Society of Professional Journalists;
the Clarion Awards; the Atlanta Seminar of Photojournalism; and the National Press
Photographers Association. Rick graduated from the University of Houston in 1979
with a BA in radio/television/film. He is married and has four children, ranging
